Plunger Club: Secret Origins or A History of Mirth

In the olden times of early 2002 the Poobah, and his stalwart companion Butternuts, was trapped in the basement of despair watching some insignificant television show.  During the commercials Poobah and Butternuts were forced to make idle chit chat in order to keep a certain level of entertainment.  By “idle chit chat” I mean making fun of celebrities, relatives, friends, enemies, and penguins. Plungers being used in a bad way was always a good fall back device in such recreation.  While expressing an imaginary sequence of an individual walking around in a mall with a plunger inserted into his nether region, they figured he was bound to be queried on the lodged object.  Now what possible response could one give to that?  In a hellish flash of inspiration the reply sprung from the Poobah’s lips “First rule of Plunger Club is you don’t talk about Plunger Club.”

            A new age had begun…

Butternuts and The Poobah fervently started using the “First Rule” to avoid explaining things to people.  Others started using the slogan as they were initiated into Plunger Club.  A great underground movement swelled up, and with the vastly increasing membership the Poobah realized he must use the net in order to keep his flock connected…      and to sell T-Shirts.
